Sólmyrkvi = solar eclipse
Stranded colourwork with two-colour ribbing. The pattern is irregular and changes every round. Long floats occur only in a few places, and they can be caught every third stitch at the back. Keep the contrast colour closest to you.

For a few months I had been toying with the idea of a hat and mitten pattern to mark the solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. No idea came for a long time, but then it all arrived at once, and I am very happy with the look and colours of the set. The set is sold both as single patterns and in gift kits.
Yarn: Náttúruprjón yarn, 85% merino wool / 15% nylon, 100 g / 400 m, or a similar yarn that gives the same gauge.
Needles: Double-pointed needles 3 mm [US 2.5] and 3.5 mm [US 4].
Gauge: 32 sts = 10 cm [4 in] on 3.5 mm [US 4] needles.
Notions: Scrap yarn to mark the thumb stitches, stitch markers.
Hat:
Size: Depth 29 cm [11.5 in], circumference 56 cm [22 in].
