Sandra is knit from the top down and can be a pullover or a cardigan with buttons or a zipper. You start with the ribbed collar, then work the colourwork on the yoke while increasing. The body and sleeves are divided, and before the ribbing part of the colourwork border is knit again, finishing with ribbing on both sleeves and body. I chose to start and finish with contrast colour 2, which I think makes the sweater shine. As it is knit from the top down, you can try it on as you work down the body and sleeves so it fits perfectly.
I was asked to knit a sweater for a family member abroad who always feels the cold, and what could be better than Icelandic wool blended with silk? I hope this sweater keeps her warm on chilly days. I found this yarn perfect for it, and the sheen of the silk makes it look very delicate.
Yarn: Einrúm E+2, 50 g / 208 m, 80% Icelandic wool / 20% mulberry silk. Main colour: Dökkbrúnn (dark brown) 200 (200) 200 (250) 250 (250) 250 (250) g. Contrast colour 1: Ljósbrúnn (light brown) 100 (100) 100 (100) 100 (100) 100 (150) g. Contrast colour 2: Vínrauður (burgundy) 100 g. Needles: Circular needles 60 cm [24 in] and 100 cm [40 in]; 3 mm [US 2.5], 3.5 mm [US 4] and 4 mm [US 6]. Use the same sizes in your preferred method for the smaller circumference of the sleeves. Crochet hook: 3 mm [US D] or 3.5 mm [US E-4]. Gauge: 21 sts = 10 cm [4 in] in stockinette stitch on 4 mm [US 6] needles. Notions: 6–8 stitch markers, tapestry needle, 8–10 buttons.
