This is one of those pattern that came about when I was drawing something in the air, mittens come first, then hat follows.
Traditional two-band hat and/or mitten knit with Latvian braid and simple ribbing. The pattern is regular. Long bands (carried yarn) are formed only in a few places, which can be fastened in every third loop behind.
Yarn: Náttúruprjóns hand-dyed yarn, 85% Merino wool and 15% Nylon, 100 g/400 m or equivalent to achieve knitting stability.
Needles: Sock knitting needles no. 3 and 3.5 [US 2.5 and 4].
Gaugh: 32 stitches = 10 cm on needle size 3.5.
Other: 1 knitting marker.
Hat:
Size: Depth 22 cm [8.66 in], circumference 56 cm [22 in].
Main color: Blue 40 g [1.5 oz].
Contrast colour: Dark orange 30 g [1.06 oz].
Mitten:
Size: Length 25.5 cm [10 in], circumference 18 cm [7.0 in]
Main color: Blue 40 g [1.5 oz].
Contrast colour: Dark orange 30 g [1.06 oz].
