We stayed in the summer cabin of a wonderful woman; we had never met before, but we were like old friends straight away. When I first walked into the cabin I noticed a printer’s shelf full of little stones, each one different. She told me that as a child they would search the shore of Lake Winnipeg for small pebbles with a hole in them, which were said to bring good luck. She had a lovely collection of lucky stones, and she was a very lucky woman too 😊. To thank her for being such a wonderful host, I designed a pattern full of lucky stones. Who doesn’t need Lukkusteinar in their life? This is also my first pattern with a colour I dyed myself, which I named Lukkusteinagrár (lucky-stone grey). I wanted it to be like a shadow of the light colour, so the pattern blends a little into the whole, just like lucky stones, which aren’t always easy to find.
